Getting What You Asked For

Pook is exactly the kind of loud, independent, fiesty baby girl I prayed for. And I'm actually just a little bit sad.

Pook is only nine months and sometimes I feel like she doesn't need me anymore.

I mean she is intent on becoming mobile so holding her is out. She also loves to grab things and watch them fall down. This I guess is more entertaining than mommy. As we stroll the grocery store aisles she talks really loudly (but usually not to me) and its actually kinda embarassing. If I try to "baby" Pook, she actually lets me have it. Although she doesn't have words yet she communicates very clearly how over me she is. I am at the point where I am looking at her newborn pictures and getting teary. I remember when Pook was sleeping all day and nursing!!

It's all really a sign, or a reminder that a good mommy also has a life.

And don't get me wrong there are those rare momments in the day, usually when she is sleepy or hungry when she only wants me. When I sense these moments believe me or not, I actually rush (yes run) to her with such excitement to tend to her needs and I am so happy. Taking care of Pook is a blessing and I know that she is exactly who she needs to be. Right now she is such an explorer who loves to sing and in true virgo fashion NOTHING should dare to get between her and her food.
