Belated Birthday Photos, Zippers, and the Potty
Thanks to Auntie Nikki I present to you... a few photos from Pook's first birthday! Nevermind that its been about four months since the celebration. Nevermind the fact that Pook is a real toddler now and these photos make me want my baby back more than ever. Nevermind that this newmommy isn't a part of the digital revolution (I too sing with e.badu "I'm an analog girl in a digital world") and that's why I'm on the mercy when it comes to uploading pictures. Anyhow, this waz Pook at her first birthday party- completely unaware, tired from all the company, totally overwhelmed by the taste of chocolate. Indeed, I learned that first birthday parties ARE really more for the parents than the child.
Zippers. Pook's latest obsession. I don't really know what the miracle is in zippers, but Pook seems to think the world of them. It's like she's watching the Red sea part everytime she pulls up and down on a zipper. It doesn't really matter if the zipper is attached to her coat thrown acrossed the couch, or if the zipper is on a shirt I am wearing she has to see the zipper do its magic each and every time. It's her latest obsession. Zippers.
Now, Tia Amy was kind enough to purchase the Sing Along Potty for Pook's birthday. It remained on the shelf until yesterday. I made a big deal to MS. Lisa that we were going to start the potty business after the holidays. I even took the time to explain to her the cultural/racial differences in potty training. I patiently told her that WE do not believe children that are old enough to take off their diapers, tell you when they went potty, and then lay down so they may be changed should walk around in diapers. Plus, since we are all mostly struggling, diapers are experienced as a major expense that should be done away with as soon as possible. Which is why the second most question we got during the holidays was "is she potty trained yet?" followed by a warning, we better get on it! Now, at Pook's daycare, one of her friends is currently learning the potty and he is 3. I know, boys are different (harder to train) says everyone. So we are staring now. I mean I didn't have great expectations. And its a good thing I didn't. Pook thinks the potty is a toy. She will sit on it bu
