Who's Smarter and Faster Than Pook?

The answer of course is: No one. Not even her mommy. If you have talked to me recently you probably noticed how I have lost my energetic, sunflower, south suburban Chicago zest. Everything is fine really, its just that Maya Sanaa is 14 months old and I can't keep up. For real.

I knew something wasn't quite right when one saturday morning Pook woke up with a mission to destroy the house. I, being the newmommy that I am, followed behind her for three hours- solid-trying to put everything back in its place. Just when I felt so weak I was about to melt like evilina the bad witch from the wiz- I called daddy for reinforcement. He came over, gave me a break and a chance to collect my thoughts of which I concluded: Pook is smarter and faster than me. This can't go on for ever!

And thank GOD Sherry, my cousin called and recommended that I take vitamins. There's a thought! Vitamins are healthier than coffee. And that's when I realized I have lost myself. It doesn't go down like it does in the movies. You know where the newmommy finds herself talking baby talk and eating food without utensils (although that did happen) but its way more subtle than that. First, you find your self completely exhausted from being mama so you completely forget that things like vitamins exist. Like really, anything for you exist. Next you hear about people going for massages, buying sexy new shoes, traveling (and they like it) but its like they are living on another planet that doesn't have babies. Because when I hear of anyone doing something extremely self indulgent like starting a blog for the sole purpose of polisci gossiping I'm convinced the writer is a man without children.

But as all addicted folks say the first step is admitting you have a problem. I have a problem. I know this. So I went out and brought some multi-v. I'm trying to back away from the second and third cup of java. I now set my alarm to go off at 8am to remind myself when most adults start their day (okay I know this a problem. LIke most people wake up around 7am or even 6am but I forgot to mention that because I'm drained I'm getting like ten hours of sleep and yes I trained maya sanaa to be on my schedule so she's down at eight pm each night and waking me up at 9:30 although she will play in her crib for another half hour- so waking up (or at least looking out the window and then pressing snooze) at 8am is a big improvement.

And this 14 months busy baby thing has come as a complete surprise! I didn't know how fast she can go! I also didn't expect her to (by 14 months mind you) put on her coat, hat, and scarf and stand by the door demanding to go out. And yes I take her out. And yes when we finally arrive to the mall or the grocery store Maya Sanaa acts as if she owns the place giving shout outs and high fives to EVERY single person we pass all the while newmommy is heading for starbucks. Toffee nut soy latte- a little heaven on earth.

I also don't want to forget to mention that Pook's other behavior that is currently working my nerves is- drinking her bath water like its european hot chocolate. Its both annoying and cute. Without a doubt at the moment she begins continuously slirpping she is so full of passion and self-love that I think Prince could write a song about this and make it sell big time!!
