Where is the love?

Hi everyone- tired mama of baby girl checkin in!

What can I say, Pook has got me tired, overworked and overspent. The little girl is just taking over these days. I can't possibly express in words how fiesty Pook is. For those of you who have yet to meet her- the little girl is...well...bossy. I can't really explain the depths of Pook's direction. She is like my mother in so many ways, upfront, direct, authoritative, and strong willed. She is (like other first borns I'm told) an extreme perfectionist. She's gotten really good about throwing her back out while having a fit. She is also really good at telling jokes- she's such the comedian. And both involve driving mama wild. One day Pook figured out that whenever she wimpers I come a running. She wimpered for about an hour straight on and off, just to make sure I would come a running. About the 100th wimper Pook let's me into the game by laughing out loud when I turn her way to see why she's wimpering... and she's wimpering only to see me come a running and then she cracks up. As soon as I figured out that I was the butt of Pook's joke I warned her about "little girls who cry wolf". Anyway she got a laugh.

Then there was the water fight. If you have caught on by now, you already I know I lost. I had two of my friends over, who are working with me on a program I do in the community. Well, the meeting was at 6pm and Pook had missed her nap that day which means she was completely out of sorts. We were trying to meet and Pook wanted my undivided attention. After being tired of me half reading stories to her, half meeting with my friends, Pook begins to get loud. She cries and throws a fit. I'm trying to talk to her, ask her want she wants, and Pook isn't really trying to hear me. What she does do is pick up the bottle of water I was drinking and throws it at me (water splashed my face and hair) and then turns her plate of food over on the floor. Whatever cool points I collected in life are gone at this point. I put her in the ADHD restraint (her dad swears it works like a charm) and she fell asleep in two minutes top. She was out like a light. Knocked out.

So my days, our days are filled with these kinds of crazy adventures. Sometimes I think its because I'm working so much Pook is doing her best to be Present when I'm around. Other times I feel like calling super nanny cuz obviously I'm doing this mothering thing all wrong. Then at other times, I celebrate- if Pook continues on like this..she will run the world for sure. She's not going to let anything get in her way or stop her. Mostly days like this, keep me humble in ways all of you all probably think uncharacteristic of the me I used to be.
