Tired Mama Checking In

Pook is almost one year old!- We are planning a very small party for Pook in Savoy on the 16th. By popular demand Pook is registered at Target under the baby registry. I hope family and friends can find it in their hearts to make the trek out to Savoy:)

In other Pook news,
she is really almost walking. She will take steps, as many as five/ten toward me or the object of her desire. It's really fascinating and exciting to see someone walking for the very first time. I am also reminded that I won't be happy about Pook's new found independence for too long. And I believe it.

I guess I could talk more about pinching Pook- her superpower, or about her communications- she is talking but I can't understand her, or I could talk about how she can read three books- Charlie Parker Played Be-Bop (she says Be-Bop when she picks it out), Please baby Please aka "baby" according to Pook, as well as her baby faces book of which she decided certain faces deserve a kiss everytime we read it. But, honestly I'm tired.

This past month has just been really exhausting. I could say it has something to do with being a single mom and just getting through each day, doing your very best, and feeling maybe well a little under appreciated. BUT I get the feeling that this is just a mom thang (single or NOT). Its completely amazing how much energy it takes to do everything and when something goes wrong like it did last month, it takes so long to find your groove again. To prove it, I have a front chipped tooth for the time being. For me this won't last too long because its so not attractive, but at the moment I'm tired. I feel it, and I know I look it.

So here's to the start of combing my hair, finding joy in all the ways Pook refuses to sit for a bath, and buying something for me because I deserve it.
