Beautifully Pook
Pook's birthday is in two days and counting!! I'm so excited.
Wellm as I mentioned before, Pook attended her first live show on Saturday night. We saw Tiempo Libre, a Cuban band who covered many musical traditions. It took place on campus. It was a complete familly vibe, and they had food and drink which made it really nice. Pook clapped to the drums and LOVED shaking the toy maracas and tambor they had for the children. She did start to wind down near 9pm, giving off major yawns completely telling me "i wanna go home". We left before the very last number. Mama enjoyed the show too- reminiscing about days past and wondering if anyone would ask me to dance- NOPE. Pook was a great partner nonetheless.
We also went shoe shoping thanks to Auntie Denise. Maya Sanaa has her first pair of good walking shoes. I don't know what surprised me more- the $50 I had to pay for them or the fact that she is sporting a size 6 at stride rite. I was told that the shoes should last for three months. REally? Then I have to get her another $50 pair? Who knew.. I didn't...
Maybe Pook is going through some growing pains. This morning the strangest thing happend, she screamed/cried for 15 minutes straight without reason. Oh I held and rocked her of course, but nothing seemed to soothe her. I'm thinking it may be the teeth? But after she decided she was done she gave me the biggest smile and warmest hug to date.
And speaking of Pooks affections- she has been so lovely toward mommy these days. That makes me feel like all is perfect with the world. She is getting really good at giving hugs, sloppy kisses, and gentle touches that just make you feel like Maxwell showed up unexpectedly proposing marriage. Real good is the point.
And of course Pook has a birthday mix cd. These will serve as her party favors. I won't tell it all but I included some can't do without tracks like Little Girl by Mary Mary, Hey Love by Stevie Wonder, Here Comes the Sun by Nina Simone, and Beautiful Me by Donnie.
